Cleveland Police Hosts Media Day

Cleveland, TN (WDEF) – When authorities and the media work well together, more criminals are taken off the street. To that end, the Cleveland Police Department hosted its Media Day on Wednesday. It gave local journalists a chance to understand how C-P-D operates and communicates.

Public Information Officers are the ones who directly communicate with reporters. They determine what to share, whether it be crime statistics, the details of an incident, or information about law enforcement initiatives.

Cleveland Police Sergeant Evie West said, “Being the public information officer, my job is to release information to the public in a timely and accurate manner and really it is our job to get information out to the public because they help us so much.”

Most law enforcement agencies also maintain their own social media pages to share information directly with the community.
