Cohutta Police Services Center Destroyed in Fire

The Cohutta Police Services Center Destroyed after a fire Sunday morning.

Cohutta, Ga. (WDEF)- A large fire destroyed the police services center in Cohutta in Whitfield County.

The fire started shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday morning and quickly engulfed the entire building. Fire units from all over Whitfield County responded to the scene. The building is a complete loss. 

Cohutta’s Police Chief says that they are receiving assistance to continue operations.

Cohutta Police Chief Greg Fowler said that, “Georgia Emergency Management has reached out to us, and we’re going to have a mobile command post moved in, and GEMA will have some trailers for us to work out of.”

Services may be slow for a day or two but Cohutta Police expect to be able to continue serving the public. No physical evidence or cases were kept at that building.
