Cold weather keeps car technicians busy

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Local car technicians say it’s good to be prepared for the worst when it comes to cold weather.

Workers at Broad Street Fast Lube say they’ve been keeping very busy since the temperatures dropped.

They say lower temperatures mean lower tire pressure.

Customers have been coming in to get their oil changed, coolant tested, and tires and wipers checked.

Techs say tires need to be inflated properly and have good tread on them for proper traction.

What you pack inside of your car matters too.

“Blankets, some food, some water, probably a first aid kit. Just stuff to get them through the night if they get stuck on the side of the road,” says Charles Grantham, an oil technician.

Grantham says these may be small precautionary measures, but they can make a big difference out on the roadways this winter.
