CPD cadets take part in Community Immersion Project

Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – Cadets in the latest class at the Chattanooga Police Department are taking part in a Community Immersion Project.

That Project is designed to immerse future police officers in specific Chattanooga cultures.

As part of their training they went out to learn directly from the community, and then teach their fellow cadets what they learned..

Cadets gathered information from the African-American, Hispanic, LGBT, and the intellectually and developmentally disabled communities.

“We do think it better prepares them, than it did before we got this, this initiative. They have then opportunity to go out and meet people before their field training actually starts, and I think that makes them more comfortable going out in to the community,” says Assistant Chief Dana Vaughn with the Special Operations Bureau.

The public was invited to attend
