CPD Chief David Roddy Appoints Executive Staff
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chief David Roddy announced additions and changes to the Chattanooga Police Department’s Executive Staff today. All five chiefs of the CPD Executive Staff are long-time Chattanooga Police Department veterans with two decades or more experience each.
Chief Roddy named Assistant Chief Eric Tucker as CPD Deputy Chief.
Assistant Chief Edwin McPherson will remain as Assistant Chief of Investigation and Assistant Chief Danna Vaughn will serve as the Assistant Chief of Department and Community Support Services.
Captain Jason Irvin will serve as the Assistant Chief of the Special Operations Bureau and Captain Glenn Scruggs will serve as the Assistant Chief of Neighborhood Policing.
“I have personally worked with each of these officers and witnessed their dedication and selfless service to our community,” Chief Roddy said. “Together, they have over 125 years of law enforcement experience and more importantly, lifetimes of relationships built in our city. It is my honor to work with them day-to- day as we continue to keep our community safe.”
Deputy Chief Eric Tucker is a 27-year veteran of the department. Deputy Chief is the second highest rank in the CPD and Deputy Chief Tucker will report directly to Chief Roddy. He is assigned as the commanding officer of the major bureaus of the department and will assume the duties of the Chief of Police in his absence. In addition, the Deputy Chief serves as the Chief of Staff to the Office of the Chief of Police and keeps the Chief informed of all operational activities on a day-to-day basis.
Assistant Chief Edwin McPherson is a 25-year veteran of the department. He will remain in his existing role as Assistant Chief of Investigations. This bureau includes supervision of Focused Deterrence, Organized Crime, Violent Crime, Property Crime, and Special Victims Unit. Assistant Chief McPherson will continue to oversee Task Force and Criminal Intelligence Officers who work in conjunction with CPD’s federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.
Assistant Chief Danna Vaughn is also a 23-year veteran of the department. She will serve as the Assistant Chief of Department and Community Support Services Bureau. This bureau is an expansion of the existing Community Services that was headed by now retired Assistant Chief Tracy Arnold. Assistant Chief Vaughn will oversee Victim Services, Volunteer Chaplains Corps, Community Outreach, Peer Support, Employee Groups, and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD).
Assistant Chief Glenn Scruggs is a 23-year veteran of the department. He will serve as Assistant Chief of Neighborhood Policing Bureau. This is the largest CPD bureau with more than 200 patrol officers citywide answering all calls for service made to 911. The Neighborhood Policing Bureau also works directly with community members, neighborhood associations, and local organizations to create solutions to problems that lead to crime.
Assistant Chief Jason Irvin is a 20-year veteran of the department. He will serve as Assistant Chief of the Special Operations Bureau. In that role he will oversee Technical Services, Support Services, Training Division, Traffic Unit and Tactical Operations which includes K9, SWAT and EOD.
