Crews looking for missing hikers overdue since last night in Big Soddy Creek Gulf

The hikers have walked out of Big Soddy Creek Gulf on their own, not knowing that anyone was looking for them.

Everybody’s okay.

SODDY-DAISY, Tennessee (WDEF) – Rescue crews are hiking into the Big Soddy Creek Gulf to find some missing hikers.

A married couple and a third man were hiking down Walden’s Ridge along the creek, planning to come out on Back Valley Road.

But they didn’t make it as planned last night.

Officials say one of them needs medicine for diabetes, and they were not prepared for camping out.

However, they say the trio are experienced hikers.

Soddy Daisy Police are asking people to avoid Back Valley Road on the bottom of the mountain and Hotwater Road on top, since both are narrow.

They want to make sure there is plenty of room for the rescue vehicles.
