Curbside recycling and leaf collection begin Monday in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The City of Chattanooga has two reminders for residents about next week.

First, curbside recycling returns on Monday.

Public Works will once again start picking up material in recycling bins after suspending the service this summer due to staff shortages.

You need to have your recyclables (and only recyclables) in the bins no later than 7 AM on your pickup day.

You need to check the website to see when your twice-a-week pickup is scheduled.

Secondly, the city will also begin collecting loose leaves on Monday.

Residents can request loose-leaf collection from Public Works via any of the following means:

  1. Call 311 at 423-643-6311,
  2. Request loose leaf collection online,
  3. Use the CHATT311 App on your Apple or Android device,
  4. Email 311 at

Loose leaves should be placed at the curb and completely separated from bagged yard waste, brush, and other bulky items. To prevent flooding during rain events, residents should also avoid raking leaves over storm drains, catch basins or curb inlets.

The City’s 311 hotline is your resource for any additional questions: 423-643-6311.
