Dade Community preparing for Tommy Bradford homecoming
TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Major Tommy Bradford will be coming home next week after weeks of surgeries and rehab.
The Dade County commander was hit by a fleeing pickup truck two weeks ago that cost him part of his leg and caused several other injuries.
The community has shown his family and the department support since then.
Over the weekend, crews built a ramp for his home.
Case Hardware provided the material and Morgan Construction did the work.
The county sheriff’s department will also continue to raise money for Major Bradford through the sale of window decals.
Sgt. Chad Payne explained how it came together:
“We got contacted by SignRight in Chickamauga ..they’re the ones that do all the decals for our cars. They contacted me, the day after this happened ..they said Hey, we want to help..what can we do? And I said..I don’t know, you know..whatever you want to do and they came up with the idea to make these stickers..and they actually came up with the design, too. They donated them and told us.. sell them..what ever..the proceeds are…goes straight to Tommy . So that’s what we’re doing.”
They already sold out of the first run, but promised to have more on Tuesday.
The decals cost $3, and you can get them from the Dade County Sheriff’s Dept.
