Dallas police: Bomb exploded near headquarters

DALLAS (AP) – Authorities say snipers shot a suspect who opened fire on Dallas’ police headquarters.

A suspect in the overnight attack on Dallas police headquarters has been shot by a police sniper after a standoff in a suburban restaurant parking lot.

The suspect was holed up in a van, claiming to have explosives.

The police chief says a robot equipped with a camera was being used to inspect the van and to try to determine if the suspect is alive or dead.

Following the shootout at police headquarters, investigators found a package containing pipe bombs near the building.
