Dalton Authorities looking for white pickup truck following stabbing

Dalton, Ga. (Daily Citizen) – The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing of a 40-year-old woman and on the lookout for a white 2001 GMC Sonoma pickup truck driven by a white male suspect.

Capt. Rick Swiney said the stabbing happened at 2 p.m. Tuesday on Serena Way. Swiney said the woman, Mayra Espitia, was looking to sell a truck and that a man had responded to a Craigslist ad, and was interested in buying it. Swiney said the man took the keys from the woman and stabbed her several times before fleeing in the truck.

Espitia had cuts and stab wounds to her neck and other areas of her body. She was transported to Hamilton Medical Center where she immediately underwent surgery.

Investigators said the subject was brought to Ms. Espitia’s home by a white female in a dark colored passenger car. The female stayed in the car while the male subject came in the house and started speaking with Mrs. Espitia about the truck.

When Mrs. Espitia started walking him out the door to look at the truck the suspect pulled a knife and started stabbing and cutting Mrs. Espitia. The suspect then grabbed the keys and fled from the residence.
