Dalton Police officer assaulted in violent domestic dispute Wednesday morning

Dalton, GA (WDEF) – A Dalton Police officer got assaulted in a domestic dispute that turned violent in Dalton Wednesday.
        26-year-old Ramiro Sanchez and 21-year-old Matthew John Katsianis were both arrested.
        Police say Sanchez smashed the windshield of a car after banging on the door of an ex girlfriend’s home Wednesday morning.
        When Dalton Police Officer Richard Cook arrived, Sanchez took off in a car driven by Katsianis.
        Once Cook caught up with them, Katsianis tried to drive away and dragged Sanchez and Officer Cook about 20-30 feet before Sanchez let go.
        Officer Cook was scraped up and sprained his knee.
        Matthew Katsianis was charged with being a party to a crime, conspiracy to commit a crime, aggravated assault on a police officer, and felony obstruction of justice.
        Ramiro Sanchez was charged with aggravated stalking, criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit burglary, felony obstruction of justice, four counts of cruelty to children in the 3rd degree, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
