Dalton Representative Bruce Broadrick is resigning

ATLANTA (WDEF) – State Representative Bruce Broadrick from Dalton makes it official.

He is stepping down from the legislature, immediately, for health reasons.

In the statement, he does not mention his health issues.

But he has told the Dalton Daily Citizen that his doctor was concerned about his continued driving trips to Atlanta because of deteriorating eyesight from a stroke he suffered a few years ago.

Here is the statement he released Tuesday morning.

“Serving the citizens of House District 4 in the House of Representatives has been the greatest honor of my life, and it is with a heavy heart that I resign my House seat,” said Rep. Broadrick. “For the last five years, the citizens of Whitfield County have undoubtedly placed their confidence and trust in me as their voice under the Gold Dome, and I owe my constituents a debt of gratitude for their constant support throughout this journey. I would be remiss if I did not extend my sincerest appreciation to Speaker Ralston and all of my colleagues in the House. During my time in the House, we have worked together to accomplish great policies for the State of Georgia.”
Representative Bruce Broadrick represented the citizens of District 4, which includes portions of Whitfield County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and served as the Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources and the Vice Chairman of the Game, Fish, & Parks Committee. He also served as the Secretary of the Industry & Labor Committee and as a member of the Health & Human Services and Intragovernmental Coordination committees.
