Dalton Unemployment Hits 7 Year Low

Dalton (WDEF) – The Georgia Department of Labor reports that unemployment in Dalton has hit a seven year low.

The April rate was 6.7%.

That is down three tenths of a percent from March.

And that is the lowest since the recession hit in June of 2008.

Manufacturing and administrative and support services keyed the improved employment numbers.

Dalton has gained 2,300 jobs so far this year.

The unemployment rate for the entire Northwest Georgia region dropped by four tenths of a percent in April.

That is the lowest rate since April of 2008.

Gainesville has the lowest rate in the region.
