Dangerous Weather

This weekend’s weather begins on a dangerous note, with lots of sleet and even more freezing rain !  The "W" Road, Ochs Highway, Shoal Creek Road & Airport Road are all closed and many major interstates are down to one lane, plus secondary roads are hazardous. The sleet and freezing rain will eventually change over to rain as temperatures are expected to rise into the lower 40’s. However, the snow & wintry mix melting will create another set of problems in the form of minor flooding and sudden runoff.

Additionally, an extra 1.5” of rain will develop, and thunderstorms will build in throughout the evening and overnight. The Tennessee Valley will go from snow to thunderstorms in less than 24 hours!

Sunday looks drier and calmer, then another round of wintry mix can be expected for early Monday morning. We will keep you posted on the latest weather developments via all of our social media, but for the next several hours, play it safe and stay off the roadways.
