Davis Lundy resigns as Mayor Wamp advisor after DUI arrest

COLLEGEDALE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A top advisor for County Mayor Weston Wamp has resigned after an arrest in Collegedale last week.

Davis Lundy was charged with DUI, open container and marijuana possession.

He was pulled over by a Collegedale officer Thursday night around 11PM.

The officer said he followed Lundy’s Jeep from Little Debbie Parkway to Apison Pike.

The officer said he could smell the marijuana coming from the vehicle while he was still behind it.

Weston Wamp had named Lundy a policy advisor after Lundy helped his campaign.

The Mayor’s Office sent us this statement today:

Having recently learned about Mr. Lundy’s arrest, I am very disappointed in his apparent lack of judgment. Mr. Lundy offered his resignation earlier today, which I accepted. I’m encouraged by the talented team we are building to lead county government into the future and we won’t be slowed by this regrettable distraction.

Lundy has made a career dealing with tough public relations issues.

He worked for the Chattanooga Times in the 1980s and was in charge of Erlanger’s marketing team for six years.

Lundy founded his own strategic communications company, The Moriah Group.

They specialized in helping companies deal with difficult issues for 18 years.
