Deadly House Fire Kills 6

Trion, GA (WDEF) – The devastating news of the loss of six lives, including four children, has rocked the city of Trion.
The Georgia State Fire Commission along with Chattooga County Sheriff’s investigators spent Sunday night and Monday putting together what happened.

Chattooga County officials said they received a 911 call from a neighbor around 11 Sunday night .

“It was a very a traumatic event for all the family. Investigators along with the state fire marshal responded last night. They stayed here for several hours throughout the night. Come back at daylight to finish their investigation”, said Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader

The Jones family lived in a mobile home off of Airport Road in Trion.

The deadly blaze killed Demi Jones and Bradley Jones, their three young daughters, Claire, Olivia, and Lola, and a cousin, Jada Kendrick, who was visiting.
All four girls ranged in ages from 3 months to 5-years-old.
Authorities said the family recently purchased a wood stove heater and it was improperly installed.

The Sheriff’s department is sending this message out to encourage others to be aware of the dangers heat sources can bring.

“No matter what your heat source to utilize smoke detectors throughout the house. I’m not sure if the investigation will reveal that there were smoke detectors in this home or not but we would like to encourage everyone to install smoke detectors and test them and make sure that they’re working.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family.
