JASPER, Tennessee (WDEF) – Seven Jackson County deputies are having to self-quarantine after a murder suspect from Jasper claims to have been exposed to COVID-19.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours of Sunday at a home on Elm Avenue in Jasper.

The Sheriff says Corbin Hale was shot multiple times and died from his injuries.

James Hunter Scott turned himself in for the murder to Bridgeport police across the state line into Alabama.

He was kept at the jail in Stevenson and then the county jail.

None of the seven deputies who came in contact with him or Scott are showing any symptoms of the virus at this point, according to Jackson County officials.
