Dolly Parton buying more theaters in Pigeon Forge

PIGEON FORGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The World of Dolly is expanding in Pigeon Forge.

World Choice Investments is the operating partner of Dolly Parton’s dinner theaters in Tennessee, Branson and Myrtle Beach.

They now are buying five more theater attractions in Pigeon Forge.

“My theater production company just purchased Fee Hedrick Entertainment, and I am so excited to have more family entertainment to present to our guests in Pigeon Forge.

But don’t expect much change.

Dolly describes her team’s role more as preserving the family entertainment already available.

“In 2019, we’ll operate Comedy Barn, Hatfield & McCoy and Smoky Mountain Opry in the same way folks have come to remember them.”

“David, Jim and their team have done a great job with these shows through the years and, for now, we don’t plan to change anything.  They are fun family entertainment, and that is the business I’m in.”

This is more a merger of former rivals.

But it will allow the new World Choice to package all of the shows for tourists.

And Dolly’s original theater will continue to expand, like the Pirates Voyage show opening this year.

“Dolly’s enthusiastic leadership will continue to focus on bringing the best in entertainment in an affordable way for the families visiting the Smoky Mountains.”
