Dozens March for “Silence the Violence” Event

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Rainfall and sirens were the only sounds heard, Monday afternoon, as dozens of locals marched across the Walnut Street Bridge in silence, taking a stand with Chattanooga Police Officers in the fight against violence.

“We’re trying to send a clear message to those who would threaten our community,” said Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher, “We will not stand for it. We may not always be able to get you for the crimes or the violence you commit, but if you endanger our community, you are going to be on our radar.”

“Silence the Violence” is one of the first organized events put together by the new professional Chattanooga Police Chaplin Core, which was created to help bring positive support to our community.

“That’s one thing that Chattanooga has proved over and over again, that we are a city of action and we’re a city of change,” said Chief Fletcher.
