Dr. Lyn Miles Remembers Chantek

Chantek, an orangutan who became one of the first apes to communicate with researchers using sign-language, died on Monday at Zoo Atlanta.

In the early 80’s he and his teacher, Dr. Lyn Miles were fixtures at UTC…and the ape’s ability and intelligence soon became legendary.

News 12’s Bill Mitchell and Photojournalist Ashley Henderson heard some of those stories today.
