DUI charge dropped against Davis Lundy

Report: prosecutor decided not to proceed with charges against former Wamp advisor

COLLEGEDALE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A former advisor to the county Mayor has had charges dropped against him following a traffic stop in October.

Davis Lundy was stopped in Collegedale and charged with DUI and marijuana possession.

At that time, he was a policy advisor for new County Mayor Weston Wamp, after advising his election bid.

After the arrest, Mayor Wamp announced that he had accepted Lundy’s resignation, saying “I am very disappointed in his apparent lack of judgment.”

Lundy appeared in the Collegedale Municipal Court on Wednesday facing four charges.

But all four of the charges were dropped.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports, after reviewing records of the court date, that the prosecutor assigned to the case, decided not to proceed.

The District Attorney’s office is run by the Mayor’s sister, Coty Wamp.

She had recused herself from handling the case, herself.

The original arrest report says the police officer smelled marijuana coming from Lundy’s car while he was following it on Apison Pike.

Lundy told the officer he was going home from a restaurant where he had an alcoholic drink.

He also had poured a glass of wine in his vehicle and had drunk from it.

The officer found suspected marijuana in the vehicle.
