Duracell Display and Packing Plant in Cleveland to Close

Cleveland (WDEF) 140 workers in Cleveland will be looking for new jobs soon. One of the local Duracell plants will shut down operations by 2018.

Duracell plans to consolidate its display and packing operations, in an effort to become more efficient.

The move does not impact Duracell’s Cleveland manufacturing plant, which is the company’s sole global provider of Duracell “C” and “D” batteries. That plant underwent a $36-million upgrade a few years ago.

Warren Buffet’s company Berkshire Hathaway purchased Duracell from Proctor and Gamble earlier this year.
