Durham Bus Service statement on Woodmore bus crash
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – Durham School Services CEO David A. Duke has recorded a message on the Woodmore bus crash.
He says he has struggled to come up with a response to the tragedy.
Duke says he cannot comment on specifics of the crash pending the investigation.
But he promises that his team will cooperate with the NTSB investigation.
“My responsibility now is to look for answers.”
And he says he is determined to find out what happened.
Duke did not comment at all on the history of driver Johnthony Walker.
Also on Wednesday, The Hamilton County Department of Education acknowledges that there are reports of complaints lodged against Walker.
“Per our protocols, these complaints were promptly forwarded to Durham School Services. As the direct employer of Mr. Walker, Durham (a private company which provides HCDE with nearly 200 school bus drivers) manages all employee matters for him and the other drivers. Durham also maintains all personnel files for its employees.”
