Dustin Adams Back In Custody After Second Escape

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The search is over for an inmate who walked away from a court ordered evaluation at the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute just three days ago.

26-year-old Dustin Adams is back behind bars tonight, on charges of aggravated burglary, vandalism and theft of under five hundred dollars.

Adams was arrested in Polk County this morning after he managed to escape custody during a court ordered evaluation at the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute Friday evening.

Three days later Adams was arrested in Polk County, where he is currently being held.

But this isn’t Adams first time running from the law…

The 26-year-old escaped from the Hamilton County jail back in September, where he was facing prior charges for theft, and a firearm possession violation, but no crimes involving violence.

Adams is also one of three inmates that have escaped from the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute within the past five months.

In June Brandon Robinson, and in August, Robert Harris both managed to get away from the facility, but were later captured by local police.

Moccasin Bend has yet to release any statement on Adams escape and capture.

But according to Polk County authorities, additional charges have also been placed on Adams including State Probation Violation.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has also said they won’t be making any formal comments on Adams, because he was not in their custody at the time of his escape.
