Early voting underway in Georgia
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – Two days into early voting, and so far in Walker County 540 residents have early voted.
That’s 282 on Monday and 258 on Tuesday.
“The numbers we have seen yesterday and today far exceed what we would normally have on a first two days of voting early. They’re more like last week early voting numbers,” Walker County Elections Supervisor Danielle Montgomery said.
There are around 39,000 registered voters in the county.
Montgomery said that they’ve recently added new voters.
“I’d say in the last three months we had about 1,200 increase in new voters in the last three months,” Montgomery said.
On the ballot, folks will be able to vote on Sunday alcohol sales.
They’ll also vote on whether or not the county should have a board of commissioners.
Statewide, Georgians will be voting for a new governor.
In Dade County, there are close to 10,000 registered voters.
On Monday, 108 people early voted and on Tuesday around 282.
“I think voters are more active and more aware of issues and things that are going on around the country,” Dade County Elections Board Member Tracy Street said.
Over in Catoosa County, around 1,445 people have voted.
They have 40,534 active voters.
Early voting in Tennessee starts Wednesday.
