East Hamilton Quarterback Haynes Eller Signs With ETSU
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) East Hamilton quarterback Haynes Eller hopes he’ll soon let the pigskin fly in the Southern Conference. He has officially signed to play college football at ETSU.
The odds of Haynes Eller signing a college football scholarship didn’t appear to be too high, until head coach Grant Reynolds arrived on the scene at East Hamilton.
Said Reynolds:”The first game that I was here. First game against Signal Mountain his junior year, we threw the ball 39 times in that one game, which was more than he threw it the whole season before. His sophomore year.”
Said Eller:”That went from throwing it thirty-nine. I want to throw it forty or forty one. Just throw it as many times as I can just to get my arm out there to be looked out and stuff.”
In his last two seasons with the Hurricanes, Eller threw for over four-thousand yards.
Said Eller:”He doesn’t put the ball in peril. He doesn’t have many turnovers. I think last year he had three interceptions the whole year, so he’s not going to put you in a bind that way. Also he throws a really good deep ball.”
Eller’s teammate, Brandon Williams signed with the Cumberlands on Tuesday, and Williams says Eller has the Q.B. intangibles.
SaidWilliams:”He’s more of a calm Q.B. He doesn’t let. When he gets under pressure, he doesn’t let it faze him. He’s calm and relaxed, and he just slings it.”
Eller also played basketball and baseball for the Hurricanes, but now he’ll try to make a name for himself at quarterback for ETSU.
Said Reynolds:”You know Randy Sanders is the head coach there. Told him he has got an opportunity to compete to beat somebody out to be the quarterback.”
Said Eller:”I’m not sure as to how soon I will play, but I’m definitely going to work my butt off to play as quick as I can.”
