East Ridge storm damage

East Ridge, TN (WDEF) – The local chapter of the American Red Cross is helping at least 23 people with storm damage in East Ridge, but it wasn’t just East Ridge that got hit.

Traffic lights were out all over the Chattanooga area and several trees came down, some on top of houses.

We caught up with one man who says it didn’t take long for the storms to cause serious damage.

Dick Cook says, "The wind was coming from the south to the north, and I was looking at the big poplar tree back there and that thing is very scary, it was shedding limbs left and right; no damage to my house, but unfortunately my neighbor’s house, the weather head for the electricity was ripped off the side of the house, and then two doors down, Andy’s house was, uh, the weather head was ripped off there too so we’re without power."

These residents have a lot of work ahead of them.
