Erlanger Park spillover causes parking headaches on South Broad

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Opening day of Erlanger Park was a sold out success.

However, the parking situation brought a challenge for some southside businesses.

Social Media posters report their vehicles being towed after parking in the lots of nearby businesses.

One local business transitioned its lot to paid parking, partially in anticipation of increased traffic from Erlanger Park

Caitlyn Yasika Wholesale Manager at Chattanooga Coffee Co. told us, “Part of the reason why we did make the decision to make this parking lot a paid lot was to hopefully protect those parking spaces for our customers and not just have people say ‘oh I can park there for free and take up every space that there is’. We don’t charge our customers to park here. They are validated so it shouldn’t affect them.”

Erlanger Park’s designated parking areas are on Chestnut Street and 28th Street.
