Erlanger’s LIFE FORCE to play role in Texas disaster relief effort

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Responding to a request by FEMA, one of Erlanger’s six LIFE FORCE air ambulances was deployed over the weekend to help with disaster relief efforts in Texas.

LIFE FORCE 1, which is based in Cleveland, Tennessee, along with a LIFE FORCE vehicle and several crew members have already arrived.

Officials say they’re on standby in San Antonio, waiting for the weather to clear, for their first mission.

“Really, they’re wanting the helicopter crews there to provide critical care transport. Most of these patients are on ventilators or, and require a higher level of care, so that’s one reason we sent our team there, uh, that has that capability,” said V.P of Operations Robbie Tester.

Tester says the team is prepared for at least a one-week deployment, and possibly up to two weeks.

The current crew will be replaced later in the week if needed.
