Etowah resident charged with Doctor shopping

NASHVILLE (WDEF) – A McMinn County woman has been charged with TennCare fraud for doctor shopping.

A Bradley County grand jury indicted 49 year old Pamela J. Huston of Etowah.

She faces three counts of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance by doctor shopping.

That is the practice of going from doctor to doctor in a short period of time to get drugs.

She was doctor shopping for Oxycodone.

She was earlier arrested in December for tennCare fraud involving both Hydrocodone and Oxycodone.

“Obtaining prescription drugs illegally utilizing TennCare benefits will not be tolerated,” Inspector General Kim Harmon said.

“We appreciate the collaborative efforts of the local law enforcement agencies and healthcare providers across the state working together to fight the opioid epidemic in Tennessee.”
