Etowah woman charged with TennCare fraud by doctor shopping
ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Office of Inspector General announces another TennCare fraud case in our area involving doctor shopping.
31-year old heather Dillard of Etowah faces three counts of fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs by doctor shopping.
The drugs involved were the painkillers Oxycodone and Hyrdrocodone.
Investigators say she paid for it with TennCare.
“The abuse of prescription drugs is a public health threat and can carry hefty penalties when a person is caught,” Inspector General Manny Tyndall said. “This type of fraud in TennCare is a blatant abuse of taxpayer dollars and we are out to stop this activity.”
