‘Explosive and Dynamic’ Eboni Williams Leads Mocs Into SoCon Tournament

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The UTC women tip off in the SoCon Tournament later tonight in Asheville. The Mocs are hoping 6-foot-forward Eboni Williams can create her usual havoc for opponents. Not only does Williams lead the team in scoring, but she’s a match-up nightmare with her size and athleticism.

The words used to describe Eboni Williams game shows how dangerous she can be.
Said head coach Katie Burrows:”She’s quite possibly the most explosive player in the conference.”
Said forward Abbey Cornelius:”Eboni is dynamic.”
Burrows:”She’s a fire for us.”
Fire in the hole. Good luck keeping up with Williams when she has the ball.
Said Cornelius:”She can score in a lot of ways. She’s fast. Has one of the quickest first steps I’ve ever seen. She’s just so athletic”
Said Williams:”I kind of learned how to slow myself down to draw people in, so I can blow right past them, and it has really helped me.”
Against Georgia State this year, Williams finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds, becoming just the 5th player in school history to record that kind of double-double.
Said Williams:”I don’t always have to score. I don’t have to be the big person of the game. I just want to be an impact to my teammates, whether it’s me being on the court or encouraging them on the bench.”
Williams certainly makes an impact on defense.
She even leads the team in steals.
Said Burrows:”It’s an attitude. I mean it’s just a mindset that I’m going to be aggressive, and that I’m going to get in the passing lanes. Kind of mess with your mind a little bit.”
Said Cornelius:”First of all, she’s a lot longer than I think a lot of people give her credit for, and she’s good at judging the ball and getting her hand in the passing lane and just using her quickness to her advantage.”
Said Burrows:” She can also guard multiple positions. She can guard one through five using that quickness and that strength.”
Said Cornelius:”She has a lot of energy all the time, and she’s really good at using that energy to keep us all up during games and just going after every loose ball and playing as hard as she can all the time.”
