Falcons Take LSU DB Jalen Collins in 2nd Round of Draft

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) – The Atlanta Falcons have continued to work on defense by drafting LSU cornerback Jalen Collins with their second-round pick of the NFL draft.
Collins (6-1, 203) gives new coach Dan Quinn more size at cornerback.
The Falcons selected Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley with the No. 8 overall pick in the first round.
Beasley was regarded as perhaps the most explosive edge rusher in the draft. He set a school record with 33 career sacks at Clemson.
Atlanta looked for help at cornerback instead of addressing a glaring need at running back. The team released veteran starting running back Steven Jackson and lost backup Jacquizz Rodgers, who signed with the Bears.
Atlanta didn’t sign a running back in free agency, leaving 2014 rookie Devonta Freeman and Antone Smith at the position.
