Family of four loses home in fire along Givens Rd.

CFD: 50% of the roof collapsed creating dangerous conditions for firefighters inside the house

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A family of four is receiving assistance from the Red Cross after their home was damaged by fire this afternoon.

Firefighters got the call around 1:30 this afternoon about a house fire in the 1000 block of Givens Road.

Heavy smoke was spotted as firefighters got close.

When they arrived, flames were through the roof.

Despite an ambulance being on scene, the residents of the home were safe and accounted for.

The fire department says half of the roof collapsed, creating difficult conditions for firefighters.

Firefighters were still on scene at 5 o’clock to check for hot spots, but no injuries were reported.
