Final 2017 Shred It Event held Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Dozens of people got rid of sensitive documents and unused medicine at the Shred It event today. Dozens of people got rid of sensitive documents and unused medicine at the Shred It event today.

With the help of the  Hamilton County Sheriff’s office’s, News 12 co-sponsored this free event. Car after car drove up and sheriff’s office officials unloaded their trucks or back seats.  This was the last Shred-It Campaign event of the year.

Gino Bennett, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, says “In the days that we are living in today, it is incredibly important that the public realizes that they need to safeguard their personal information. Not only their names, but even such things as phone numbers, especially social security number, birthdates that type of thing people are out there looking for that every day.”

The Sheriff’s Office says that you should be properly disposing of your unused medications, which you can do at their office year round as well.
