Fire Marshal investigating fatal fire in Summerville

Summerville, Georgia (WDEF) – Firefighters are looking into what caused the blaze that killed a man early Saturday morning in Summerville.

It happened around 12:30 at a home on Raymond Street.

Chief Robbie Lathem says 70-year-old Harold Barr was killed.

Barr was the only person home, and was still in bed.

Lathem says the fire started at the end of the hallway near the closet area.

Firefighters don’t believe there were smoke alarms in the home.

The Fire Marshal will determine what caused the blaze.
