Fire on Plumwood Road believed accidental

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Chattanooga Firefighters responded to a house fire on Plumwood Road late Friday morning.

They found light smoke.

They forced their way through the front door and found the fire in the front living room.

Firefighters quickly put it out and contained it to the living room, but there was smoke and heat damage to the rest of the house and its contents.

There were no injuries, and damage is estimated at $60,000.

The home owner told firefighter he had been gone about 30 minutes.

He lives alone and had no insurance.

The Red Cross is helping him.

Firefighters say the fire appears to be accidental, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
