Chattanooga Fire Department student awards
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Fire Department hosted an awards ceremony for local area school kids this morning.
The awards were for posters submitted for the annual fire prevention awareness week competition.
This year the theme was look, listen, learn, be aware, fire can happen anywhere.
Awards were given for all grade levels and Boyd Buchanan school won 13 awards, including best in show.
Chattanooga Fire Marshall William Matlock says “It’s always a joy to do this. Not only are we giving the kids a reward for participating and doing well but we are also getting the message out on fire safety which is extremely important and out main goal.”
The winning posters will now compete at the state level against school kids from all across Tennessee.
