Firefighters maxed out by two house fires Friday morning
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Fire Department has been stretched to the limit fighting house fires Friday morning.
They had two difficult fires in East Brainerd neighborhoods.
The first came before dawn in a gated community on Magnolia Lake Drive.
The second happened before noon in Hurricane Creek.
Both homes were a total loss.
And firefighters were hampered fighting both of them because of the weather.
Fire spokesman Bruce Garner says hydrants at both failed to supply enough water.
The freezing temperatures could have been the cause.
Additionally, a pump on the first truck responding to the Hurricane Creek fire froze up on them.
Firefighters called in a second alarm for both blazes, because of the difficulties from the cold.
No one was hurt in either fire.
