Food City & Target changing mask requirements

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Target and Food City join companies that are easing up their face mask rules.

Target officials announced on Monday that they will no longer require either customers or staff who have had their vaccines to wear face coverings in stores.

“Face coverings will continue to be strongly recommended for guests and team members who are not fully vaccinated, and we’ll continue our increased safety and cleaning measures, including social distancing, throughout our stores.”

Food City announced they are making the same move as of this coming Thursday.

But you will be able to see which staff members have gotten the vaccine.

“Fully vaccinated associates will have a vaccination logo displayed on their name badge.  Fully vaccinated customers are welcome to shop without their masks as well. ”

But they still want the un-vaccinated to come masked.

Here are other stores that are changing mask requirements:

Publix- No masks for vaccinated customers, masks for the un-vaccinated.

Starbucks- Masks optional for vaccinated customers

Walmart/Sam’s Club- No masks required for vaccinated staff and customers.
