Former Alabama pastor faces more sex charges in Grundy County

He was arrested for inappropriate contact with children at his church in Decatur, Alabama last fall

ALTAMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – We’re learning that the sex charges filed in Grundy County are the result of a larger case in northern Alabama.

Danny Pitts was the pastor at GracePoint Church in Decatur, Alabama when he was arrested there last November.

He was charged with two counts of sodomy.

The case involved children at the church according to local reports.

The church is now closed.

Now a TBI investigation has resulted in Pastor Pitts being indicted in Grundy County.

The charges in Tennessee are statutory rape and sexual battery.

The TBI worked with the Hartselle Police Department in Alabama.

They say the Tennessee offenses occurred between August and November of 2019.
