Former Dade Sheriff pleads guilty
TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Patrick Cannon entered guilty pleas today in court for charges stemming from his time as Dade County Sheriff.
He pled guilty to five counts of violation of oath of office and 13 counts of theft by conversion.
The charges come from a GBI investigation in 2013.
Investigators claimed he used county funds to buy clothing at Men’s Warehouse and JCPenney, plus pay his family Verizon Wireless bill.
It came to thousands of dollars.
The former sheriff will not serve any jail time.
Cannon was sentenced to 10 years probation as a first offender, $9662.50 fine, and restitution.
