Fort Payne Police make drug bust at home on 38th Street SW

Fort Payne, AL (WDEF) – Fort Payne Police Officers and DeKalb County Drug Task Force agents made a drug bust Friday evening, and two small children were taken from the home.

Officers went to the home of Sonya Marie Gonzalez at 101 38th Street SW to investigate some possible drug activity.

Police say after agents spoke to Gonzalez, they determined she kept marijuana in her home.

Agents then got a search warrant to search Gonzalez’s home and found drug paraphernalia and a bag of a white, crystal-like substance outside the back door of the residence.

It tested positive for ICE methamphetamine.

Gonzalez and a man named Anthony Brown were both arrested on drug charges.

The children are being looked after by the Department of Human Services.

Both adults are awaiting bond.
