Fraudulent credit card arrest leads to weapons charges
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police working at Hamilton Place Mall were alerted to a suspect trying to use a stolen credit card.
Police have identified that suspect as 22 year old Erwin J. Rogers.
Officials say Rogers did not comply with officers verbal commands, and instead try to flee up escalator.
Chattanooga Police say they were able to apprehend Rogers, and then discovered a handgun under his clothes.
According to Chattanooga Police, Rogers has been charged with Fraudulent Use Of Credit Or Debit Card; Evading Arrest; Resisting Arrest Or Obstruction Of Legal Process; Reckless Endangerment; Possession Of Firearm During Commission Or Attempt To Commit A Crime; Disorderly Conduct; Carrying Weapons On Public Parks, Playground, Etc; and 2 counts of Possessing A Firearm With Intent To Go Armed.
Hamilton Place Mall has signs banning firearms on the property.
Rogers was transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
