Freak Truck Collision In Bradley County Leaves Man & Woman In Hospital

CLEVELAND,TN, (WDEF)-Officials tell us Debra Norton Jenkins was struck  by a run away truck, just inside the entrance to the Bradley County Road Dept.

Dr. Lindsay Hathcock, Bradley County Exec Assistant,"She has been through some surgery and has more to come".

Sheriff Eric Watson confirmed that the woman’s legs may need to be amputated.

Jenkins was one of two county employees injured Monday afternoon.

Investigators now believe a flat bed truck rolled from the garage entrance down the hill to the main gate striking both employees near a fence.

There was no driver in the truck at the time of the collision.

Tim Clark, Neighboring Business Owner,"Ambulances rushing by and now we realize what has happened, my condolences go out to the family and friends who have been affected by this".

The freak accident is believed to be the first of it’s kind for the county.

Dr. Lindsay Hathcock, Bradley County Exec Assistant, "Extremely grateful not only for the care they were given at the scene from the emergency personnel, but from their co-workers, everyone in this community has come together to help these two individuals who were injured".

Ted Dobbs who was released from Sky Ridge is listed as supervisor of operations for the road department shop.
