Fujifilm Hunt Chemicals closing Dayton plant

DAYTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – A corporate shakeup in Japan is costing some jobs in East Tennessee.

Fujifilm Hunt Chemicals is closing its plant in Dayton.

84 workers will lose their jobs in Rhea County.

The closing is the result of a corporate streamlining to cope with the struggling film processing industry.

The plant makes chemicals used to develop non-digital photographs.

Fujifilm Hunt will be folded into Fujifilm Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. on October 1st.

While losing a plant is never good news for a small town, Dayton’s mayor says his town will cope.

Gary Louallen says La-Z-Boy is more than making up for the loss.

He says anyone who can’t find a job in Dayton, isn’t looking.
