Ga. troopers: Driver dies after Maserati crashes into home

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. (AP) – The Georgia State Patrol says a driver died after he sped away from a trooper in Buckhead and crashed his Maserati into a DeKalb County home.

State Patrol Sgt. Stacey Collins tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution a trooper stopped the car in Buckhead early Wednesday morning.

Collins said the driver of the Maserati sped off as the trooper approached his car.

He says the driver went through the Brookhaven area, where he crashed into a home just before 3 a.m.

Collins said a woman in the car was injured. Her condition was not immediately known.

Collins says the crash caused structural damage to the home, but no one inside was injured.

The driver’s name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
