Gas dips below $2 at one local store

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Drivers are noticing the drop in gas prices in the Tennessee Valley and across the country.

At the BP on Cummings Highway, regular gas is $1.99 a gallon.

Other gas stations in the area are around $2.20.

Some drivers say they put a lot of miles in each day to commute to work, so this is helpful.

They are shocked at the prices, but are glad it’s happening right now.

Drivers say this helps them save money.

Tonya McBrayar told us “I just think it is a great surprise for the holidays.”

GasBuddy.com reports that prices have fallen 8.9 cents a gallon in the Chattanooga area over the last week.

We are now seven cents or more lower than Knoxville and Nashville and almost $.40 cheaper than the national average.

Their price map shows several stations below $2 in Ooltewah, including a Murphy USA at $1.97.

And there is a cash-only deal of $1.98 at the Exxon in Ocoee.

Georgia prices are also unusually low, with several $1.99-$2.01 around Calhoun.
