Gas prices continue to climb after Memorial Day
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Gas prices continued to climb in Chattanooga after the Memorial Day holiday.
Average prices rose 4.2 cents here to $2.18 a gallon according to the GasBuddy.com survey.
The national average was up 3.9 cents for the week.
Right now, the average price in Chattanooga is higher than our neighbors in Knoxville ($2.15) or Huntsville ($2.14)
“The first week of the summer driving season saw the national average price of gasoline rise by less than 4 cents per gallon, but some states saw much greater volatility resulting from regional refinery setbacks and/or wholesale fuel spikes,” said Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
You can still find a gallon of gas below two dollars in the Chattanooga area.
The Sam’s Club on Lee Highway has the lowest price now in the GasBuddy survey at $1.98.
And the Costco off I 75 in north Georgia also has a $1.98 price.
Everything else is over two dollars.
