GBI charges Murray Deputy with taking money from evidence room

CHATSWORTH, Georgia (WDEF) – A Murray County deputy faces charges over some missing money from the evidence room.

49 year old Donna Woody was the evidence custodian.

The Sheriff’s office asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into allegations that more than $10,000 was taken.

After their investigation, she was charged with 6 counts of tampering with evidence, 1 count of violation of oath of office, and 1 count of theft by fiduciary.

The GBI investigation remains open.
